One of the newest features in Kinabase is the ability to create a field where the user can select multiple options in a dropdown list.

What is multi-select field? Although similar to a single select drop-down, multi-select fields allow you to choose as many options as you like from a preselected list of options. This is especially useful when a single dropdown option isn't enough.

For example, if you were a charity tracking donation types, you could create a multi-select field and specify different donation types used, such as cash, food, clothing, etc. The user can then select the corresponding types for a given donation.

Here are some quick steps to use this feature:

1. Click on the relevant collection you want to edit.
2. Go to the top right-hand corner of the screen and click on the three dots.
3. Click “Configure.” This will lead you to a general page on how the collection appears.
4. Navigate to the left side of the screen and click on “Fields,” directly underneath “General.”
5. Once in the “Fields” section, click on “Add Field,” and then click on “Type.”
6. There you will see the option to add “multi-select” as a field type. Click “multi-select” and add the fields you want to pull into your collection. You will need to add specific labels to the different fields you want to track. If you wanted to track different industries, for example, you’d add “manufacturing,” “technology,” and “pharma.”

The multi-select field feature allows you to organise the details for any record in your collection so they can easily be sorted, managed, and analysed.
