A percentage can describe a chance of success or a chance of failure. Until now, a high value on a Probability field always looked like good news, which sends the wrong signal when the field is tracking risk. You can now decide which end of the scale is the better outcome.
What's new:
Probability fields have a new Colour Scale setting: Higher is better or Lower is better. Green marks the better end and red the worse end, while the likelihood labels - from Impossible to Certain - stay the same either way.
The same colour follows the value everywhere it appears: on the record, in tables and on Kanban cards. Existing Probability fields keep Higher is better until you change them.
Why it matters:
- Send the right signal with green for a high win chance, or for a low risk, depending on what the field measures.
- Read one meaning everywhere as the record, the table and the Kanban card all share the same scale.
- Spot exceptions at a glance as a high, red value on a risk field stands out before anyone opens the record.
How it works:
- Open the collection, click the options menu (⋯) and select Configure, then under Setup click Fields.
- Click Add field, or open an existing Probability field's ⋯ menu and select Edit.
- On the Details tab, under Colour Scale, select Higher is better or Lower is better.
- Click Add for a new field, or Save for an existing one.
When to use it:
- Sales teams tracking the chance of winning a tender can keep Higher is better, so their strongest bids show in green.
- Construction firms logging the likelihood of a site incident can switch to Lower is better, so a high-risk job shows in red on the project board.
- Charities assessing grant applications can colour the likelihood of funding differently from the risk of a project running late, so trustees read both correctly.
Get started
Open Configure → Setup → Fields on a collection with a Probability field and check its Colour Scale matches what it measures.
