Build powerful formulae with exponentials and logarithms

Kinabase formulae now support exponentiation ( ^ ) and logarithmic functions, letting you model compound growth, engineering ratios and scientific scales without leaving your workspace.

Crunch complex calculations without spreadsheets. You can now raise numbers to any power and take logarithms directly inside Kinabase Expressions, powering richer Computed Fields, smarter Automations and crystal-clear Dashboards.

Need to forecast compound growth, convert decibels or standardise data on the fly? Simply use exponents and logarithms in your equation, and let Kinabase do the calculation, right where your data lives.

Why it matters:

  • Model real-world growth – calculate interest, population or viral reach in a single Field.
  • Simplify engineering maths – express ratios, decibel levels or Richter magnitudes without external tools.
  • Normalise skewed data – apply LOG( ) to keep Charts readable and insights sharp.
  • Automate advanced alerts – trigger workflows when exponential thresholds are hit.

How it works:

  1. Open or create a Computed Number Field and edit the Formula.
  2. Use the caret ( ^ ) to raise a value to a power, e.g. $REVENUE ^ 1.07.
  3. Or type LOG(value, base) for any logarithms; for natural log, or use “LN”
  4. Check your result and see instant unit-aware formatting.
  5. Save the Field, or embed the same formula in an Automation condition.

Read our article on Computed Fields for further syntax guidance.

When to use it:

  • Finance leads projecting year-on-year revenue growth.
  • Operations engineers converting sensor data to a logarithmic scale.
  • Analysts cleaning long-tail datasets before building Charts.
