Record Tabs

Tailor your record navigation

Every Record

opens onto a detail view with tabs across the top, giving you quick access to related information - its Activities , Task s, files, and any linked records. Customising which tabs show, and in what order, keeps the information your team uses most one click away.

1. The standard tabs

These tabs appear in the same order on every record, and each one only shows if the feature is turned on for the collection and you have permission to see it:

  1. Details - the record's own fields, always shown first.
  2. Activities - notes, emails, calls and meetings logged against the record, plus a system log of changes.
  3. Tasks - to-do items linked to the record.
  4. Reports - a record-level dashboard of charts built from this record's data.
  5. Files - documents and images attached to the record.
  6. Telemetry - time-series charts of how tracked fields have changed over time. Only appears if telemetry is enabled for your organisation and the collection.
Activities

Log notes, emails, calls and meetings against a record, and see a full audit trail of changes. See Activities.

Tasks

Actionable to-do items linked to the record, helping you track assignments and follow-ups. See Tasks.

Files

Store files and documents alongside the record they relate to. See Files and docs.

Telemetry

Track how a record's numeric, stage and option fields have changed over time, with a preset or custom date range. See Telemetry.

2. Relationship tabs

Any collection linked to this one appears as an extra tab, one per relationship, showing the related records at a glance. You can rename these tabs to something more meaningful for your team - for example, a "Projects" tab on a Client record might be renamed "Active Projects".

When a relationship tab is backed by a Collection List

or a Child Collection , you can also choose how it displays: Parent records (the default) shows the related top-level records, while Items grouped by parent shows the individual items instead, grouped underneath each parent. Right-click the tab, select Display, then choose the option that suits your team.

Details, Activities, Tasks, Files and Reports are fixed and cannot be rearranged, renamed or hidden. You cannot reorder or hide tabs on the Colleague

s list. Reordering, hiding and renaming relationship tabs needs Configure Permission for the collection - if you can't make these changes, ask your System admin. Changing the tab layout affects what everyone sees, not just you.

3. Reordering tabs

1. Open a record

Navigate to any record in the collection where you want to reorder tabs.

2. Right-click a tab

Select Move left or Move right to shift its position.

3. Repeat as needed

Continue adjusting until the tabs are in the order you want.

Put the tabs your team uses most towards the front, so the information they need is visible without extra clicks.

4. Hiding and restoring tabs

1. Right-click the tab

Select Hide tab from the menu.

2. Restore a hidden tab

Click the + icon at the end of the tab bar and select the tab you want to bring back.

Hide tabs you rarely use to keep the record view uncluttered - you can always restore them later.

5. Renaming tabs

1. Right-click the tab

Select Rename from the context menu.

2. Enter a new name

Type the label that makes sense for your workflow in the Tab Name field, then click OK.

Standard tabs such as Activities and Tasks can't be renamed. Relationship tabs only appear once you've linked another collection - see Linked collection fields.

Reordering, hiding and renaming record tabs lets you tailor Kinabase's navigation to your own processes, so the information your team relies on is always where they expect it.
