Email Forwarding
Business communication is often conducted via email. Use email forwarding to log emails as activities against your colleagues and contacts. This keeps your colleagues informed, and ensures that important communications are not lost in your inbox.
This article explains how to set up email forwarding in Kinabase, and how to use it to log emails as activities.
Forward Emails to Log Activities
To log an email as an activity, forward it (or CC/BCC) to inbox@kinabase.email from the email address linked to your Kinabase account.
- The email will appear as an activity in your Colleagues Collection
- If the recipient matches a record in your Contacts collection, it will also appear there
- This feature will work for all the contacts that you've CC'd, BCC'd, or forwarded the email onto - if they exist in your Kinabase environment.
Only registered Kinabase users can forward emails. Make sure you're sending from your Kinabase login email. You also need to have Activities enabled for your collection to log emails as activities.
Set Up Email Logging (Admin Only)
To enable automatic logging to Contacts or Organisations:
- Go to Settings → Integrations → Email Integration
- Under Contacts, choose your equivalent collection and map the name and email fields
- Under Organisations, choose your equivalent collection and map the name and website fields (must link to contacts)
- Click Save to confirm your settings.
Remember your collection names may differ, such as "Contacts" and "Companies" instead of "Contacts" and "Organisations", but these collections must have an email field and name field to log emails correctly.
To log emails against related records (e.g. Opportunities or Projects), enable Show in Related Records in the Contacts collection configuration activity settings.

Forward to a Specific Record
You can also forward an email directly to a specific record using this format:
< collection > + < record_id > @kinabase.email
You’ll find a specific records' address in its Activities tab → ⋯ three dots → Add activity from email. Copy this address and use it to forward emails directly to that record.
Example: To forward an email to record #1 in the Sales Accounts collection, use
sales-accounts+1@kinabase.email
