Map

Display records with location data on an interactive map

Map plots Record

s with location data on an interactive world map. See where your data is geographically distributed, and explore records by clicking on map markers.

Why use Map?

  • Geographic insights: See where your customers, assets, or activities are located.
  • Distribution analysis: Understand how records are spread across regions.
  • Location-based planning: Identify clusters or gaps in geographic coverage.
  • Interactive exploration: Click markers to view record details without leaving the map.

1. Prerequisites

Your Collection

needs at least one Address Field , which stores address information including coordinates (latitude and longitude).

If you don't see the Map icon in your toolbar, your collection may not have an Address field, or the tool may have been turned off. Map is on by default - see Tools for how to check and turn it on.

2. Using the Map

1. Open Map

From your collection, click the Map icon in the toolbar to open it in the side pane.

2. View your data

Records with valid location data appear as markers on the map - individual records as pins, and groups of nearby records as clusters showing a count.

3. Navigate the map

  • Zoom in/out: use the zoom controls or scroll.
  • Pan: click and drag to move around.
  • Globe view: the map displays as an interactive globe you can rotate.

4. Interact with markers

  • Hover over a marker to see a tooltip with the record's primary field and location.
  • Click a marker to select the record and view its full details.
  • Click a cluster to zoom in and see the individual markers within it.

5. Switch Address fields

If your collection has more than one Address field, use the dropdown in the toolbar to switch between them - for example, an "Office Address" and a "Home Address" field.

3. Zoom options

Use the zoom menu (magnifying glass icon) for quick navigation:

  • Zoom in - magnify the current view.
  • Zoom out - see a wider area.
  • Zoom to fit - automatically adjust the view to show all mapped records.

4. What data can be mapped

  • Address fields - including address lines, city, county, country, postcode, and latitude/longitude.
  • Lookup fields that reference an Address field in a related collection.

Records without latitude and longitude values won't appear on the map. If your location data is missing coordinates, a free online geocoding tool can convert addresses into latitude and longitude.

5. Example uses

Creative ways to use Map

  • Customer mapping: see where your customers are located and identify geographic clusters.
  • Asset tracking: map equipment, vehicles, or property locations.
  • Event planning: visualise venue locations for events or meetings.
  • Sales territories: understand coverage across regions.
  • Supplier network: map supplier locations for logistics planning.
  • Site management: track project sites or office locations.

6. Tips

  • Filters apply: Map respects your current view filters, so you can map a subset of your data.
  • Clustering: markers automatically cluster when zoomed out, making distribution patterns easier to see.
  • Missing coordinates: if records don't appear on the map, check that their Address fields have latitude and longitude values.
