Record Roulette

Randomly select records with a fun spin animation

Record Roulette is a fun, gamified tool that randomly selects one or more Record

s from your Collection with an animated spinning wheel.

Why use Record Roulette?

  • Fair selection: randomly assign tasks, leads, or items to team members.
  • Gamification: add fun to meetings, training, or team activities.
  • Decision making: when you can't decide, let chance choose for you.
  • Quality assurance: randomly sample records for review or audit.

1. Using Record Roulette

1. Open Record Roulette

From your collection, click the Record Roulette icon in the toolbar to open it in the side pane.

2. Spin the wheel

Click the large SPIN button in the centre of the screen. The wheel spins for a few seconds before revealing your randomly selected record(s).

3. View the results

After the spin completes, you'll see "You've picked…" followed by the selected record(s). Click any result to view its full record details.

4. Spin again

To make another random selection, click Spin again in the toolbar.

Creative ways to use Record Roulette

  • Lead distribution: fairly assign incoming leads to sales team members.
  • Code review: randomly select commits or pull requests for detailed review.
  • Training exercises: pick random scenarios or case studies for discussion.
  • Prize draws: select winners from a collection of participants.
  • Meeting icebreakers: randomly choose who presents first or answers a question.
  • Quality sampling: select random products or records for quality checks.

3. Tips

  • Filters apply: Record Roulette respects your current view filters, so you can narrow the pool of records before spinning.
  • Empty states: if no records match your current filters, Record Roulette shows a message indicating no records are available.
  • Multiple picks: when selecting multiple records, each result is shown as a separate card.

4. Enabling and configuring Record Roulette

Record Roulette is off by default. Select the collection, click the options menu (⋯), select Configure, then under Display, select Tools and turn on Record Roulette. See Enabling tools for the full walkthrough.

Click the cog icon next to Record Roulette to configure it for the collection:

  • Number of records to pick - how many records to randomly select with each spin (1–10).
  • Title - the heading shown above the spin button (up to 50 characters). Leave blank to use the default "Record Roulette".
  • Tagline - descriptive text below the title (up to 100 characters). The default tagline adapts based on your collection name and selection count.
  • Feature cards - up to 3 cards below the spin button, each with an Icon, a Title (up to 30 characters), and a Description (up to 100 characters). Useful for explaining the purpose of Record Roulette in your context - for example, "Winner gets first pick of tasks" or "Selected for quality review".
