Navigating Kinabase

Finding your way around the interface

Once you've signed in, everything in Kinabase is reachable from a handful of consistent places. This article walks through them, so you know where to look before you start exploring individual features.

1. The navigation bar

Down the left of the screen you'll find:

  • Dashboard - your personal overview of tasks, activities and key data.
  • Calendar - your tasks, shown against their scheduled dates.
  • Colleagues - the built-in list of everyone in your organisation.
  • Your collections, organised into groups. Your System admin can arrange these groups and decide which collections you're able to see.

If you're a System admin, you'll also see an Add collection button for creating new collections.

2. The user and help menus

Two menus live at the bottom of the navigation bar:

  • The user menu (your name or avatar) gives you Brand Guide, Settings and Sign out.
  • The help menu gives you Help & Support, plus Upgrade if you're on the Starter plan. On the desktop app, it also shows Check for updates.

Read more about your personal settings in Managing Your Profile.

3. Notifications

The notification bell shows you updates relevant to you - task assignments and due dates, automation notifications, and reactions on your activities. Click it to open the notification centre, and use Clear all to dismiss everything at once.

Read more in Notifications.

4. The command palette

Press Cmd + K (Mac) or Ctrl + K (Windows) from anywhere in Kinabase to open the command palette - the fastest way to search and jump around. Start typing to search across:

  • Recents - shown by default, before you type anything.
  • Collections - jump straight to a collection.
  • Actions - things you can do, like inviting a new colleague.
  • Settings - jump straight to a settings pane.
  • Dashboard - jump to your dashboard.

The command palette also understands plain-English requests - for example, typing a description of the records you're after can surface a suggested filter, powered by AI. See AI in Kinabase for more on how that works.
